December Workshop with Carlson, ESRI and IntelliCAD
This year's version of our Workshops expand to cover various aspects of the relationship between Carlson Software, ESRI and IntelliCAD.
This is a full-day session of presentations and demonstrations. Cost is $99 and lunch is included. NC licensed engineers and surveyors will receive 7.5 hours of PDH credit.
Note: Our advertisement in the September issue of the Tarheel Surveyor had the dates for Raleigh and Statesville reversed
Bruce Carlson, founder and President, and Scott Griffin, National Civil Sales Director, will make presentations on behalf of Carlson Software.
Felicia Provencal, cad-specialist extraordinaire representing Pro CADD Hawai'i and Carlson Connection, will cover various BIM, GIS, Surveying & Engineering topics.
Donny Sosa, Surveying Industry Specialist, will make presentations on behalf of ESRI.
Donny describes his presentation this way:
Too often, land surveyors store, manage, and deliver their project data using outdated procedures and technology including spreadsheets, word processors, and even fax machines to name a few.
As many surveyors continue to seek out new work by diversifying, offering GIS as a service can increase your company's competitive advantage while embarking on new opportunities. Implementing your survey data into a GIS can yield significant advantages for your company (internal and external) and your clients.
This presentation will discuss the following topics:
- Definition of a GIS in your terms (survey terminology)
- How to use GIS to manage your project data
- GIS deliverables - how to communicate and get involved with the GIS community

Why You Should Consider Online Training
Have a last-minute training request? Don't have time for travel?
Online training is quickly becoming the most popular form of training that we offer. Why? One reason is the immediate nature of it. Assume you are working on a project and just can't get your profiles to draw the way you need them to. In many cases we can schedule an online training class with only a few hours' notice.
And, like all other training, this training will be customized and personalized to you, your office and your project. Check out our list of AutoCAD classes , list of Carlson Software classes or list of Land Desktop/Civil Design classes for training ideas. Custom Training can be developed for any, all or a combination of the classes listed.
Additionally, if you find yourself having problems or not able to work your way through a specific project, we can customize your training to walk through the project, start to finish, in order to get it completed.
If you'd like to speak to one of our online training customers to hear how well it has worked for them, please contact us and we will make those arrangements.

Please Consider Supporting the USO of North Carolina
I know that times are tough right now, so I'm only passing this on because it looks like it has a lot of value and the proceeds will go to a great organization. It's a great way to say "Thanks" to those service men and women who support us and the families who support them.
I have been a volunteer at the USO Center at RDU Airport for almost 3 years and it's an awesome, rewarding experience. NBC 17 did a short (2 minutes) news segment on the Center a couple of months ago, you can watch the news item here.
Please see the link below for details about purchasing an "H Card" to support the USO of NC. The card costs $25 and there are discounts available nationwide. For each card purchased through the USO of NC, we'll receive $12.50.
Details about the H-Card program can be found here.
You can purchase a card through the USO of NC here.
A list of participating businesses can be found here.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer or simply learning more about this wonderful organization, visit the USO of NC's website here.
And, continuing in the spirit of saying "Thanks", I'd also like to extend a giant "Thank You" to all those I've worked with and who have supported me through the years. I hope you and your families are happy, healthy and safe. - Jennifer
